As you are obviously aware, what has made HBO home to so many landmark original series and movies is our continued willingness to give creative talents like David Chase (The Sopranos), Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), and Deadwood’s David Milch the creative latitude to see how far they can push the boundaries of television entertainment.

In the case of Mr. Milch, this meant also giving him the opportunity to put Deadwood aside in order to explore a new concept he had in mind and which viewers have been introduced to as John from Cincinnati. At this time, Mr. Milch intends to re-focus his energies on the movies which will conclude the Deadwood saga once he has completed work on the first season of John.
